I am a E-5 92A trying to get Fort Sam Houston. Any ideas other than contacting branch to try and get that assignment?

Does anybody know where I can find a good respite care for my children in Fort Sam? Not an hourly rates 0700 to 1700! I am looking for a fixed rate care provider that can keep my two kids overnight and extended hours. No night-outs, I do not party. I'm just looking for a permanent provider who gives an extended child care and does not charge extra for late hours and extra nights in case if I have field excersize or staff duty. Thanks

Call units over there. Preferably S-1 or G-1 because they know about MOS requisitions and open slots. Try to "sell" yourself to the unit directly. They can go through their requisitions and request you to get over there through your branch (of course it involves your proactive communication b/w the unit and branch) if someone is ready to PCS/ETS. Each Battalion has a bunch of open slots that they can not fill because people extend, change their mind, decide to ETS at the last moment, or there is a lower-level slot that they can not fill. S-1 has a better picture of who is coming and who is leaving the slot.

Are you in your reenlistment window?

It's YOUR career! Take control of it before someone else does.

Soldiers may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do.
