Can someone tell me what the atmosphere is like around Fort Hood... Thats where I am going...

Really depends on your unit, but I miss Hood a ton. Was there for about 5 years. Killeen (right outside the gate) is any typical military town, but an hour drive to Austin is well worth the trip most weekends. All I have to say is University of Texas :-D
