Funny you should all be talking about this. This is where I'm trying to go when I re-up this month. It's my first enlistment so I'm hoping that will help my chances. I'm a 25R.

Hey! Good luck in Tampa! I was in the Centcom J-6 for a year and a half before I came up to DC. LOVED IT!! Of course, I'm an admin person, so I didn't deploy as much as the actual commo guys did, but I did spend 6 weeks at the fwd hqs and it was a great place to be Smiler

SGT T.E.C., do you know anything about 112th Sig BN? A SSG in my unit who came here from Bragg said it would be a good idea to contact branch, and see if I could get a slot there. He said 112th is a pretty high speed unit..any personal experiences with those guys?

Just checked my ERB..shows projected unit as "DIA SUPPORT TO CENTCOM".

I just PCSd here about two weeks ago and love the area. I live off post, the women in Tampa are gorgeous (I just left Germany so it takes a lot for me to throw that word around), the base is nice (there's a beach on post!) although parking sucks, and my unit is awesome. Come to Tampa- you'll enjoy it. It's like the hidden gem of Army PCS locations. My friend is in the 112th here and he loves it. I'm sure you'd have a good time.

Nope, don't know anything about 112th Sig. They aren't a direct part of the J-6, but they may be JCSE, which is a signal support section hanging out there.

Enjoy Tampa!! It really is great Cool

The 112th is a Special Operations Signal Bn at Bragg. Their website is here, but don't expect to learn much.

Thanks for the info everyone. I lived in Tampa when I was younger, so I know a little about it, just not the military side. Still can't get an answer to what exact unit I'm going to..trying to coordinate with CENTCOM to get a sponsor..

We'll see. Less than 30 days till I begin PCS leave. Clear CIF tuesday..can't wait. Got my promotable status a couple of days ago, so that just makes my PCS that much sweeter.
