I am currently deployed right now and will b returning back to the states soon. My question is this, is there anyway possible for me to beable request orders to go to McDill AFB. Ive done a little research and there is active army there, a few transportation units. A guy in my unit had orders to go there but he declined them to come with us to the desert. Also, my commander could possibly be going there as well after he does his captians course. Any info would be greatly appreciated
MacDill is home to SOCOM (Specials Ops Command). If you're affliated with units that support Special forces then you have a good chance of probaly going there. I tried myself.
macdill is hard to get especially for 25L. I been trying for the last 2 years to get that assignment. I call my branch and they say its not open but then you hear of your co-worker or someone else getting the assignment, But it is a chill place to relax from the many deployment rotations in a signal brigade

Have you re-enlistment NCO or your S1 print out a list of the available slots for your MOS. I just had mine do it and I found places like New Orleans, Belgium, Turkey, Netherlands, MacDill AFC etc all on my list. That way when you try to talk to Branch about an open slot it'll be easier if you have the slot number and the likes so they can't BS you if there really is a slot open, which at the time you call them their actually might not be.
It will absolutely help you if you have a TS/SCI clearance completed. An interim TS may work but I would feel safe presuming the full clearance complete is what is needed.
