bout sums it up... 11B is a foot soldier, 11C is a foot soldier that is specialized in mortars and mainly provides indirect fire support to the 11Bs.

I am an 11c2o and i havent shot the 120mm in over 3 years due to mission requirements required in theater. you will basically either
perform a PSD type mission or just fall in doing ground pounding with every other swinging dick who goes out the wire. As for what kind of mortar system you will use depends on if you are assigned to a light medium or heavy BN. If you not good with math id go light. any other help you need feel free to ask.

ive heard that it is hard to get 11C that most 11X are going towards the 11B side...but on the subject of falling in with everyone else, does 11C kick in doors to, or is that just the 11Bs? Also, do both 11B and 11C use the A4 or are they still using the m16?

There are more 11B than 11C, so most 11X become 11B. Typically the higher the ASVAB scores, the most likely to become 11C, since their job involves more math. However the selection process appears to be pretty mysterious, so a high score or a low score really does not guarantee either job.

Typically an 11C will be in a smaller fire support platoon. Most of the kicking in doors is done by 11Bs, as their larger platoon size makes the entire process easier. Plus a good deal more of their training is kicking in doors oriented. Every combat MOS should expect to be doing patrols and kicking in doors however.

11Cs are also assigned to a wider range of units. Armor and Cavalry units get assigned 11Cs as well.

+1

"kicked" more doors as a 97E than as a 13M.

Bull**** information. Both MOS require a 90+ in the CO aptitude section.
