Quick question. I've been trying to come up with a workable definition of "fire & maneuver." If anybody could provide some assistance it'd be great.
So far: the hammer/avil process. Via maneuvering and suppression fire a rifle squad acts as an anvil until it can move into position and put direct fire on opfor- bringing the hammer down. Close? Of course, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
As always, thank you for any assitance that you can provide.

Fire: One element suppreses the enemy with fire. The goal is to either destroy the enemy or force him to take cover thereby reducing the volume of his accurate fire. The reduction in accurate enemy fire allows for other elements to maneuver.
Maneuver: One element moves to close distance with the enemy, either to his front or flank. The maneuvering element will destroy or capture the enemy, or set up a support by fire postition to suppress the enemy so that other units may maneuver.
