Hey whats up Mav. My name is andrew and i am in the same boat as you. I've been visting with my recuriter on and off for about a year, getting EVERY single question that i've asked answered. Two recuriters down at that station are eleven bravos, both have gotten to know me real well after taking the time and chatting with them for some time now. From what they've found out about me the tell me that i am really going to like be an infantryman. I live up here in North Dakota, where hard work isn't appreciated but expected. So they tell me that i will do well and basic should be a breeze, which i highly doubt. I'll be going down to Ft. Benning (The Home of the infantry) so i expect it will be a tough challenge. But i like to say " if u train like hell, then when you get there it won't be so hot." But i was fed well when i was a weee little buy, and i've grown up pretty good, I'm 21 and when i was back in highschool i was as big as 6'2" 280lbs (Defenesive Lineman) but when i decided to join the Army i cut down to 215, thats how serious i got about this career i am about to embark on. Perhapes well chat some more, and maybe be down south at the sametime. Until then good luck to all who read this, and may the force be with you.

Hey and good luck in basic I have been in the Army a while and I have been a drill sergeant and the thing that is the toughest about going infantry is being mentally prepared. You can expect anything and everything to happen to you. Such as being cold and wet and still having to road march to waking up at 5 in the mourning and having to go on a run. Just remember while you are going through it that it has to end sometime they can not stop time no matter how long it is. To be physically ready all I would start douing is running and do a lot of push ups and situps if you can do that you will be on the good side of the drills when you get there. Good luck and take care. Chance

If your going to Infantry basic or more accurately Infantry OSUT then you're going to Ft. Benning, GA. While your at it put in for jump school & Ranger Indoctrination (RIP). My son did that & now he's in the 3rd Ranger battallion. He wrestled in grade school (I was his coach) & H.S. Varsity ( I was the asst. coach) & he's a National Judo champ & has been for a number of years( I coach that too). Rangers do what is basically Brazilian JuJutsu, right up a wrestler's alley. You guys should be doing 4 miles every other day in conjunction with push ups & sit ups. Ask your recruiter to give you the PT test. Passing it & going to DEP classes will get you a stripe,PV2. Do a lot of running even on your off days. The PT test is 2 miles so do that on days you're not running 4. You'll need to be in good enough shape to do a 12-mile march. That's repeated in RIP but at a faster pace. Top out.

Wasn't it Brazilian jujutsu that ruined UFC? :? Nothing like being pumped up to watch two guys beat the crap out of each other and all one wants to do is fall on the ground and hug and kiss for 30min. I think they call them graplers.
Oh well, it's all good. 8)

Yep, that was him. The only time I ever saw him get beat was when he got pounded a few times before he could get the other guy down. I think he actually quit due to a leg injury or something....can't remember...getting old. :?

I'm pretty sure that the Gracies went to train the 2nd Ranger Batt. up at Ft. Lewis. I hold black belt rank in two forms of karate, Chinese Kenpo & Goju Ryu as well as judo. In my experience most fights of any kind wind up on the ground. It's always handy to be able to throw in an arm bar or a choke. That has a tendency to end the altercation real fast. Top out.
