i was wondering what weapons your allowed to buy and other combat things i know your supplied with a rifle but can you buy more weapons like an m4 or an mp5 if you dont want to use you standard weapon and can you own multiple weapons also what body armor are you allowed to buy and are, they gonna changed the greedy haliburton governed law of not allowing you to buy great armor like dragonskin and with body armor can you wear whatever you buy or do you have to stick by some uniform rule also same thing for tactical vests that you can carry clips in, plus can you buy any type of grenade you want and as many as you want, shippin off for basic soon and i wanna know the truth
I've never been in a unit that allowed you to buy and use your own weapon instead of your issued weapon.
When talking about body armor, I have not seen anyone buy and use other than what was issued since shortly after the start of the war (due to lack of supplies.) In the Army, everything is about uniformity. Also, the Armor used is to specific specs. Talk to your 1st line supervisor. There should be some sort of SOP.

The answer is no. You use what you are issued. You can't buy grenades anyway. At least legally you can't. When it comes to body armor and weapons, the army has tested many different kinds. The one the army chooses is most likely the best for you and the conditions you may fight in.
It is also army regulation. If you wear something not issued to you and you are wounded or die, then army will not be responsible. A lot of people in the chain of command will be held accountable.
Don't worry you will be issued all you need when you arrived at your station provided you pass basic training. Good luck.
Weapon- no, no and no again. You can sometimes do small additions like a light or vertical fore grip but no different systems.
Grenade’s- once again, not no but hell no. Where would you buy a grenade anyway?
Armor- When supply was low early in the war you possibly could had a little wiggle room here but not too long ago the army conducted tests of issue vs dragon skin and dragon skin lost by quite a bit (the debate is still going but that’s the answer)
Vests are where you can do some customizing (usually) but this will be determined by unit SOP and your ability to explain why your way works for you better.

ROFL!!!
but seriously, I'd suggest enlisting as 18x, sf candidate, make it through the training and you'll get to play with the cool toys, if not youll be somewhere in the 11 series (infantry) and they also have some neat stuff
Good Luck!
EDIT: err, seems like you're already set to go to basic disregard that last part.

Same here. Do you know how funny it would look if deployed Soldiers could pick and choose their own uniform and weapons? Every PVT would be walking around like RAMBO.
I would like an MP5 though...with a samurai sword...or maybe a flame thrower...
2 more questions, can you slightly modify your weapons say add a reflex scope or sight or change the top of the barrel as long as your still within the same mm clip, and can you buy sidearm such as pistols and choose them?
jmavphil i was thinking along the lines of one a them portable miniguns. and kyle i think im goin ranger but they got some fun stuff too, not as good as sf though
I had a soldier buy an $800 scope with a rail kit. We let him actually take it to the range. he could not hit paper form 25m. It was SOOOO funny. I am an Infantry NCO, take some advice, don't go 18x at first. Go light Infantry (by getting choice of station in your contract) or maybe even Ranger, but make E4 or E5 first. Don't listen to tankers who think all you have to know is how to walk and do push ups. There is a lot of training you will need before attempting the Q course.
Good Luck

PS, Light Infantry has all the "cool" stuff that works in real life not that looks good in Soldier of Fortune Magazine. We are the best equipped Army in the World and the Infantry sets that standard.
Good luck!

To answer you two extra questions, NO GUNS! You use whats not issued and your in deep shit. As for modifications I would say your may be able to do additions, but no mods. What I mean is you could (depending on your unit) buy a better sight, or light but changing a major component (shorter barrel) won't happen.
Don't worry about the gear. Most every light/ regualr infantry allready has the goodies on thier weapons. They have M-4's with red dot sights and other toys at noe cost to you.
Worry more about the tactics then how fancy your rifle is.
11b's out there please correct me if I"m wrong but you do not carry pistols, correct? I know MP's carry both in combat but have yet to fully realy understand why.

Well as tankers we carry both M4's and pistols. Our M4 is our primary weapon now, but our pistols are used as back-ups. It is being taught at the CQB course in Hohenfels. When your rifle is black, you transition to your pistol until that is black. Then you reload both.
