I almost forgot. As far as asi's there are none for mp's, just the basics that everyone else gets (airborne, airassault, scuba, etc.). Also, in a sense mps are infantry on wheels when it comes to being in the field and while deployed which is like I said, the only reason I became an mp. Don't ever mistake the difference though because both mos's have their are one in their own. Infantry does things that mp dont do and vice versa. Both MOS's have a very strong espirt do corps for their bretheren, their own history where men ,and for mp's both men and women, have given the ultimate sacrafice for their brothers through corageous acts and devotion to duty. Both mos's also have their own valuse, beliefs and traditions. I would like to say in closing that I believe we all are one team. I accept and respect and MOS and any Branch of the military because every uniform has U.S. and we are all fighting for the same cause and eachother. You never know who it will be behind you as you look the enemy in the face that will be the one that may save your life that day.

MP ASI's are Q9 for Traffic Investigator, V5 for Military Police Investigator, H3 for Physical Security Inspector, and K6 for Military Working Dog Handler.
Doshaza, I apologize for any misunderstandings in my previous entry. I have been an MP for 3 1/2 years and have never met anyone with any kind of asi for MP "skills". I asked a few people about the question at hand and was misinformed by them all as well. Thank you for educating me on what I should already know, especially since I am about to be an nco. Are you an MP? If so, where are you stationed?
Yes, I am an MP. I'm stationed at Camp Zama, Japan. I've been here and Fort Bragg. I was at Bragg for 5 and 1/2 years before coming here. When my unit contacted me they asked if I had any ASI's. I had 6 yrs as an MP and was a SGT and I asked "What's an ASI?". Basically, certain jobs within the MP corps like MPI, Traffic, K-9, and physical security require graduation from the school. Once you graduate the school you are awarded the ASI. It's like confirmation that you are qualified. It helps units plan where to assign incoming people based on their qualifications.
But why aren't ASIs awarded for SRT schools? I can see why one wouldn't be given for Phase I, because its a pretty general course and they send whole platoons throught it at a time. But Phase II is A LOT more selective. There's like a 70% dropout rate. And what could be more specialized than a law enforcement marksman? I think I'm going to lead the charge to make the Phase II SRT Course ASI-able.
SGTMP, What's up? I am stationed at Fort Richardson in the 164th MP CO. If you come to AK there are a couple different units you can go to. As far as my company, we do both the road and field. There is the 28th MP DET which makes up the PMO, Traffic, MPI and K-9 and they only do road work. There are also MP platoons in some of the infantry units here but you have to be airborne qualified to go to them. The MP's in these units do not work the road. Also most of the infantry units if not all of them are deployed right now so you know what that means if you get assigned to one of them.
I am a garrison MP, but not by choice. It just happen got noting but garrison units and TRADOC units, but soon there will not be any garrison units and we all will be field MP's
