When do they start doing the investigation work on these and when can I expect to be notified of some results? Been lurking around on AKO discussions and someone has been waited a year and a half for it...

You probably won't see any information on AKO until it is completed. Depending on your status (initial entry or first time applicant already in th Army) it may take longer. Of course that also depends on the places you lived and how often you moved, the type of clearance you applied for, the information discovered during the investigation, what your references said about you, and how many cases are on the investigator's desk.
just to add to MI Guy... Usually the interim is granted right away unless you have a criminal background. As far as the final clearence goes... MI guy is right. Sometimes its quick sometimes it takes a year or longer. Just keep on the 2 shop about it and tell them to let you know when they get confirmation of your clearence.
Mine took well over a year, closer to a year and a half. Also, if yours is not done when you head to AIT, you may be a "holdover" until it is completed. Most people will tell you, being a holdover is not something you want, you end up on [i:28484efc38]all[/i:28484efc38] the details the Drill Sgt's can come up with. Big things that may hold up clearances are large amounts of debt ($5000+ unpaid), criminal records, relatives that are not US citizens, or incomplete information on your application. I had a friend that was in school while I was there, ended up being sent back to his old unit/MOS due to the fact that he had sisters that he didn't even know about (he was from Puerto Rico originally and had not spoken to his family since he was 2 yrs old). Even being a US citizen yourself, if you have family that is not, most likely your clearance will take exceptionally longer.

a full TS may take some time.. I have done my EPSQ 2 years ago and I still dont have a full TS. It all depends on your S2 and how hard you push them to push the other people to hurry up the investigation.

:? ergh. well the reason I was asking is because the people's address and phone numbers and things change a lot. So that said, is there a way to get the updated info to S2 and that will probably make it take even longer...?
So what happens when you don't have a full TS yet but you're already at your duty station?

Usually they get all the additional information they need from you when they do their interview with you. Have you had a interview yet? I'm not talking the S2 either...i mean a real investigator.

Not that guy. If you are waiting on a TS then someone will be around to interview you when you are close to get completion. It will be a stressful interview...
