I was wondering if your spouse had to be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this MOS? My wife is from the Philipines and she has already put in her packet to become a U.S. Citizen, so we are just waiting for that to go through. I was reading up on some requirements and I didn't see that she had to be but some soldiers are telling me that yes she has to be.
As a 35L, I beleive you just have a longer SF 86 involving your wife being a from another country. With her already put in her packet for citizenship and the fact she is from the philipines and not a country like russia, iran, china, north korea etc, it will be less of a factor. Contact your local CI office if you are CONUS it's the 902d MI Group, OCONUS Europe 66th MI Gp, middle east 513th MI Gp or other equivilant. Each of these offices interview potential 35L candidates. So I hope i helped, it's been a while since I've done a CI candidate interview. Good luck.
Thanks very much for the info, I will get right on contacting 902nd. I really want to make this a career. If you have any other knowledge to share please do. SGT G
The best advice I can give regarding 35L is to contact your local office. I have been in the MOS for 2 years having switched from 35P (I think that is right... 98GKP). I have been stationed with the 202nd MI Bn at Fort Gordon, GA and deployed to Iraq with a small team. A lot of what you can do in this field depends on what unit you are assigned to; this field has many different tasks and specialties that are all combined into one MOS.
I agree with you... I have already decided to make this a career for as long as the Army wants me.
