I know that current Army policy prohibits the carrying of concealed firearms on post. I was stopped this evening, off post, in uniform by a SFC telling me that I cannot carry a concealed firearm in uniform off post (he saw it when I pulled out my wallet). I have a valid CCW permit, and it was not on post. Does anybody know if this is adressed in any current DOD or DA regs? If so, could someone point me in the right direction. I have no problem in not carrying, I would just like to know if it is permitted under current policy.

If a tree falls in the woods, and nobody is around to hear it........................does anyone care?

THERE IS A DOD REGULATION THAT PROHIBITS THE CARRYING OF ANY CONCEALED FIRE ARM ON A MILITARY INSTALLATION... ITS SO MP'S LIKE US DON'T HAVE SO MUCH "DANGER" TO WORRY ABOUT. HOWEVER, AS LONG AS THE WEAPON IS REGISTERED ON YOUR POST, YOU CAN KEEP IT IN YOUR RESIDENCE.

I'm not trying to be a prick or anything but do you have to type in all caps on your replies? Also you might want to check the dates on some of the discussions you are replying to.

And that regulation iiisss....?

Make sure you give accurate and backed up information.

And remember, everyone... "residence" doesn't mean "barracks", whether it registered or not.
