Has anyone else attended British interrogation training? I took the 1-week course back in '98. The Brits' unit is called Joint Services Interrogation Centre.
It's a very practical and challenging course. If anyone has taken it, please let me know - I need to compare notes. It's important.
I've attended both the short MTT you refer to and the long course at Chicksands. Great training - much of our current [i:b35e041533]tactical questioning[/i:b35e041533] doctrine is heavily influenced by the Brit approach.
The Brit MTT is one of the more common training opportunities that 97E's are able to obtain on active duty. Some of the others are the Reid Interview and Interrogation Basic and Advanced courses, the Kinesic Interview Technique course, and the Laboratory for Scientific Interrogation - Scientific Content Analysis course.
Allow me to give all interogators a block of instruction...
Lesson 1: Dont beat detainees. Lesson 2: Dont beat detainees. Lesson 3: Get all the usefull information you can out of them, but dont beat detainees.
Any questions?
Note: I know this is a sensitive subject and all, but I just thought I would make light of it. I'm sure you interogators are under a lot more heat now a days, but you are doing a good job. Take it easy.
[quote:a68eaae127]...where do you go to sign up for this?[/quote:a68eaae127] Its not something that you "sign up" for. A team of Brits comes out to the US nearly every year and visits a few installations in order to run the course for our HUMINTers. The unit commanders select the personnel to attend. Opportunity to attend has a lot to do with timing and mission op-tempo.
Also, each year a very small number of NCOs get to attend the long course in the UK out at Chicksands. Great TDY, if you can get it. [quote:a68eaae127]...are 97E's the only ones who can get it?[/quote:a68eaae127] 97Es and 97Bs are the troops the course is intended for; its specifically MOS related training. And the Brits don't come often enough, nor do they hit every installation, so not every 97E gets the opportunity to participate in the training.
