currently im an 11c and a pfc. I plan on re enlisting and reclassing to an MP in a few months. just wanting to ask a few questions.
first, does anyone know of any bonuses right now related to re enlisting for MP.
and second, how close are MP and infantry in relation to deployment activities. ie, raids, patrols, etc... or do MP's mainly do guard type duties? i love the high speed offensive activities but love police work and intend on doing it when i get out of the army.
kinda hoping i can get the best of both worlds as an MP. police training and some of the fun infantry stuff.

appreciate anything you can provide.

try going to armystudyguide.com and type SRB in the search engine to find out about reenlistment bonuses. you can also ask your retention NCO in your company. i'm a 74C until feb. 17 when i DEROS from korea. i knew i wasn't prepared to ETS yet but wanted a job that i would actually like to do in AND out of the army. so, i did the research and found an MOS that fit the bill. i talked to my retention NCO, made sure i met all the quals, and got the paperwork to proceed with my reclass training starting in march.

as far as deploying goes, almost EVERYONE will deploy; especially MP's. it's a bit more kooshie than infantry so it probably won't be the same. if you're really that interested in law enforcement, maybe you should consider getting an internship with CID if your 21 and when you do a couple yrs. as an MP (which can be waivered); just a thought.

Well lets start this out. I was an 11B for 4 years with all the hoo-aah schools and good guy badges. I wanted out because i didnt want to get ut of the Army with nothing. I re-classed to MP. Well the MP branch is one of the most deployable MOS's in the Army. We are also one of the smallest. We make up only 1.7% of the force. So you will get deployed, again and again. Our missions have a wide spectrum. We have a war mission as well as a peace time mission. During war, i know my unit, you will perform EPW camps, searches, house raids, and open land patrols: mounted and dismounted. We also established and trained the new Iraqi police system and recruits. During our peace time mission, we as a general support MP CO, we do get to work community law enforcement. But for the direct support MP CO's, they dont. Law enforcement duty is only a small part to what the MP's actually, but John Q. Public only sees us doing that. Our MOS is more like Cav or Mech Inf. S find an MP on your post and talk to them on their experiencies.
