I've heard that a lot of cell phones don't work at Huachuca. What is the best company to go with while there?

I agree that Sprint is the best service provider as I lived in the area five years and tried them all. However, be cautious. Sprint has a history of overcharges and local/ranging discrepancies. Their billing department sucks! They should offer you a significant discount as a service member, as well.

I can tell you what company didn't work for me when I was stationed at FT Huachuca, V*****. Since I purchased my cell phone only 2 weeks before going to the area and informed the sales representative that I will be at the Sierra Vista location, stationed at Huachuca....the sales rep said there is will be no problems. I couldn't get a signal in the barracks at ALL. Nothing...and half the time when I was on post...the phone would roam. Fortunately, I contacted the company and explained to them that the sales representative ensured me I would have no problems and they allowed me to be released from my contract with no penalty.

I would definitely compare available cell phone companies there and ask there phones will be able to obtain signals on post without roaming.

I am currently at Fort Huachuca and have decent phone service with Cingular. The issue I have found is that it depends on where you are on post. We have lots of "noise" in and around the post that inteferes with the signals. Also most of the barracks are brick so you usually have to be near a window. I know everyone needs to make their own decision so keep asking.
