I was wondering if you had any info on the ASAS-lite? I am in SBCT 3 and waiting for info on the lite. As for the ASAS....the ones that I have seen are just a tad small. Hard to move around in. But I have yet to see the bigger version. Thanks!

ASAS is a great piece of machinery that gets focused on WAY too much. That sacrifices the 96Bs' analytical skills that operate it. Some units stopped using maps when they get that ASAS and Proxima projector- wrong idea. Iraq has changed most of that thinking and many folks realize that map boards don't run off batteries.
ASAS-Lite is just like ASAS but doesn't come with the extra 200 pounds.
i'm in a Strat Signal Unit at SHAPE, Belgium. Does anyone here know where I can get some training on the ASAS here in Europe? Specifically I'm trying to find some class dates so I can bring it up to my training NCO. I haven't touched an ASAS in about 2 years, and even then I didn't have much experience then.

An ASAS Lite is a Panasonic CF-72 Laptop... Total junkers for anything but MI work... I know that the 172d has a bunch... I was the BDE Automation Officer ( As a SPC) when the S-2's and The MICO got 'em.
BTW, How is transformation going? Have you gotten any Strykers in yet? are all the vehicles comming with the FBCB2 equipment installed, or is 21 SIG doing all of that? Im comming back in 6 months to Wainwright and cant wait to check some of that stuff out.
Not quite sure why a Stratigic Signal group would want an ASAS, or are you in the S2?
Anyhow, you should try contacting V Corps, 1ID, or 1AD ACE or G2. They should know who to talk to about training for the ASAS. There are two possibilities for training on the ASAS: TDY to Huachuca for about a week or a mobile training team from Huachuca. Last I knew however, there is no more Senior ASAS Operator course so you might check with the V Corps guys though.
