I just signed up for 4 years as MOS 96B, and I'll be leaving for Leonard Wood to start basic at the end of March. Basically, I want to know what a typical day is like for a 96B once I'm done with AIT. What kind of things will I be doing, etc. I went to college and chose to go enlisted because I wanted intelligence right away, so I'll be a Specialist if that makes any difference in my duties, even though i doubt it will at first.

Depends on what type of unit you're assigned to. You could get thrown right into working with national-level intel in support of ongoing ops - or you could end up as the cherry duty body in a combat arms unit. And there is a huge and varied spectrum in-between.

And entering as an E-4 in and of itself won't make any difference at all to your duties. E-1 through E-4 are all still Skill Level 1...E-4 just makes a few bucks more. If you wanted something that will make a difference in your duties you should have gotten Airborne in your contract.

thanks, I figured it would all depend on where I end up. I keep on running across the Great Skill program, anyone know what that is?
