I'm thinking about reclassing to 97E. I'm a SGT(P) and I just found out that 97E suspended the language requirement. I want to reenlist through the BEAR program when I hit my 2 year window this July. Looking at points, I should make SSG right away. What is 97E like for a SGT/SSG in TDA and TO&E assignments? Or, is this right question to ask? What can I expect if I go 97E?

It looks like the book's answer covers it pretty well. In post you do training and debriefings. In the field, you do interrogation. And interrogation. And more interrogation.
I've been doing the echo job for five years, and everything I've done is covered in the above statement. If you have a specific question, I'd be glad to elaborate.
well i have questions. i knew that despite me being a korean linguist, the chances of me going back to korea would be nonexistant. however, i am going to alaska as an E5 97E reclass. when i go out to the field, will i be going out with the fellas, doing live interrogations, what's the norm for us over in the mid-east? also, when we are at the homebase, outside of the usual training, how is a day in the life of a 97E at his/her homebase?
btw, do you know of any 97E that actually are in korea?

I can't add anything about the daily workings of the field, but I am currently in the process of reclassing to 97E and there aren't any classes available. I am a SGT/P that made the 01 May cut-off. Once you hit SSG you can apply for an accelerated program. Go to the AKO main page and click on the career opportunities section. The MI branch SGM has a memo for the program and the requirements and application process. Other than that, it is a matter of waiting for school sats to open. I am patiently playing the waiting gam, but growing tired. I am coming up on 12 months until DEROS and I don't want to wait until the last minute. Anyone know of any other ways to get faster school date?

i thank you kindly for your reply, but i have already gone through the course back in march-july 2005 and in DLI since august 2005. i am about to graduate here next month and am going live for the first time as a 97E.
having said that, i would appreciate hearing replies from experienced 97E soldiers if possible.
