I'm all set to go to Benning for OSUT in June, but I was curious how it worked out, considering that it is basic and AIT combined? Is there a difference in lodging? Also, am I allowed to wear civilian glasses or ranger goggles once I reach the AIT phase of OSUT? Only one more question I promise. While in the basic phase will I be required to be styling the BCG's all the time even if my vision only requires glasses at distance of more than 100 feet? I have no problem with doing whatever I am told to do, but then again who really wants to wear the BCG's.

ooooo, FT. Benning Georgia in the middle of the summer. Heat + humidity = hell. Theres no difference in where you stay. Think of it as an extended Basic Training. You dont stop, you transition right into AIT without a break. If I remember correctly I dont think Civilian glasses are allowed, but I dont wear glasses so I dont quote me. Listen when they tell you to drink water because its a serious situation, heat exhaustion is not a pretty condition. Once you hit down range for training you will be in the environment conditioning phase for about 2-3 weeks because of the heat during the summer so depending on your current physical endurance its not low impact and classes all day long. After that phase is over its endurance training non-stop. Youll get used to it fast, they dont give you a chance not to. I could ramble all day. The fact is be ready to be exhausted and doing push-ups, squats, running and various other endurance routines all day long and DRINK WATER!!!

My husband did his OSUT Infantry training in Benning...I agree with gh0st, prepare to be exhausted, not much sleep, etc. If you could, start doing a lot of push ups and sit-ups from now (and jumping jacks lol) it will only be in your advantage. And GA is very humid, so you must drink a lot of water, especially due to the amount of exercise you will be doing. The good thing is that you know for sure you will be out of there in a great shape!Smiler Good luck.
