How long is MP AIT? I just wanted a breif Idea of what its like and how long will I be there. I also herd that BCT will now be 12 weeks compared to 9 (( I dont mind the more training the better )) and that the army will soon get new digital BDU's
i'm home on exodus right now from MP OSUT... my basic training portion is still the same as it used to be 9 weeks 3 phases (3 weeks red 3 white and 3 blue) then the AIT portion is 8 weeks 2 phases (4 Gold 4 Black). I've heard rumors though that if you start training after 05jan the BCT portion is changing to 13 weeks. I don't know if this counts for OSUT or if this is just for regular BCT. The people i've talked to about this are going thru regular BCT and not OSUT. I'd say your recruiter would be your best bet on that question. But for now your total training for MP OSUT is about 17 weeks, i say about because you'll probably be at reception for about a week and there is always a chance of getting recycled if you don't meet standards....we've had 4 people get sent down already and im only in week 6, hope this helped
i am reclassing to mp an i have a school date for 4 mar. i know that my class is only 8 weeks but if you could give me some heads up on what the tng is like. any tips on certain items that i may need that is not on the packing list etc.
sorry christian7r, i can't really help you there... im still in the BCT portion of OSUT, we haven't started the AIT phases yet.... there are quite a few MP's on here though that might be able to give you a heads up though

As far was AIT, all I can remember...basically is a lot of class room work at the MP school. So pretty much, notebook and pen for that.

as far as reclassing goes, i reclassed in oct 2002, it is alot of classroom work but i hope you end up in a better company then i got. there were about 14 of us we lived in our own bay but right there with them and had to do everything with the pvt's from marching with them to all there formations. yes we did get more freedom but other company reclasses were driving to class living at the lodge. so in that aspect it sucked, but be ready for long class days. i have heard that they have changed the training since then too so it might be alittle different. you will go to the field with them for the 3 or so days. i guess just be ready for anything, hope that helped alittle.

I'm sure you had it harder than other classes and you DEFINATELY harder than others RECLASSing into another MOS. I was a RECLASS for MI and in my class there wasn't any IET students. If we already drawn BAH then we weren't required to live in the barrack. We drove our own POVs too . . . and during the field, RECLASS was allowed to bring their dirt bike or quad.

Hmmm, that sounds familiar. Been in three in a row myself. Bad Luck I guess. Where ya at? I was with MI at my last unit and it really really really sucked.
Lost? Use Tenino Map 1:50,000 Sheet 1477 IV, Series V791. Just face it, I am going to win the iPod.
I have a question that I hope someone can answer, I am reclassing to 31B, I have already reenlisted for the school, but I just recently found out mu Civilain LIC is suspended. I will have it back right before I go to AIT, but will this effect my class, or will I be good to go?
