What is the current recruiting policy on GED's? Do you still need a certain score on the ASVAB and 15 college credits? If so can the credits be from CLEP tests?

Hi there! I just recently, about 5 days ago, enlisted in the Active Army under the 13D MOS. I have a GED and I made a 34 AFQT score, no college credit, it might depend on the meps but I got in just fine.

I don't believe you need the college credits to get in. I have a GED and got a 42 on my ASVAB and am going in on time for BCT and I was never told I needed college credits

You dont need the 15 college credits, but if you get them then you are considered a high school graduate and therefore eligible for more options and dont have to worry about "Sorry, we dont have any GED spots available right now."

You need a minimum of 31 on the ASVAB.

Also if you have a GED your bonus options are limited.

You will have to take the AIMS test.

If you score lower then 50 on the AIMS test, which is a personality test, you will get NO enlistment bonus.

I don't believe army uses the "GED spots" anymore, they'll take any ged student as long as they take the AIMS test.

I was shisted out of 40k because of that stupid test which basically asks what you would do if somebody punched you 15 times. I don't know what it's scored out of, just don't be all excited when your recruiter tells you your eligible for whatever amount of money, you might not see it.

I have a GED (with some college credits prior to enlisting) and never received a bonus. I was bluntly told GEDs have slim if any of a chance to getting a bonus.

Where on AKO is your enlisted record held at? I believe OMPF?

4rsen1c - I hope you like your MOS. I hate it! (soon to reclass)

I also have a GED. I did receive a bonus, for enlisting into the reserves ($3,000), however, I ended up paying back the 1/2 I did receive, since I enlisted into the active Army. Go DFAS! At least it was worth the job change...

E5rect- if you mean your enlistment contract, I think you are correct, it's in your OMPF.
