I'm not a recruiter, so they can probably answer your question better than I can.
When I saw the recruiter you know we went over the MOSs the Army offered etc. then he/she should give you the practice ASVAB, to see where you stand when you take the real one. I took the written ASVAB before I went to MEPS (takes about 3 hours) but I have heard they offer one on the computer at MEPS which is much faster.
Hope this helps you out a little.

I took it with the Marine recruiters, but they will normally schedule you to take one before you go to MEPS. Ive heard of people taking it at MEPS, but trust me that day is long enough, Im sure they took it and did MEPS over the course of 2 days. Im sure they do have you take it before MEPS still, so they can see what types of jobs you will qualify for.
When I went through I took a practice one with the Recruiter then he took me to MEPS to take th real one on the computer, then I went to MEPS again for the enlistment process.

My recruiter didn't give me the practice ASVAB because he was confident I could pass it before hand. So he took me to the local Reserve Air Force base to take it. Then I went to MEPS several weeks later and joined.
There were about 2 people in my group who did the ASVAB at MEPs.
I'm only a private, but I figure I'd give you some of my experiance with it. But if I was you I would ask your recruiter. He would know better.
