I am in the process of trying to pick an MOS t go active Army. I am prior service, 98 on the Asvab, 4 year degree, no moral waivers needed. I filed a chapter 13 bankruptcy 2 years ago and am currently paying on that now, on time for 2 years, no other issues. I had my recruitr talk to the security screener at the MEPS with the question posed about the bankruptcy. They told him, at least this is what he said to me second hand, if I had a current bankruptcy payment plan they would not even initiate a clearance. Does this sound correct or is this true for all instances like mine? Basically with my lines scores the skys the limit but most jobs have some sort of clearance.
When I worked the S-2, OUR post security managers would not even entertain you if you filed bankruptcy in the last 12 months. Anything after 12 months with supporting documents would usaully work. If you filed 2 years ago, and are curent on everything else, from a finacial standpoint you should be good to hook.
Rub some dirt on it

Ok, thanks for that, I figured as much. Now how do I go about getting them to even run one? They seem like they wont even try. Do they have to try and run one on me or can they refuse to try?
