Yeah, I don't believe I've heard of you. I used to hang out at that recruiting station, but actually joined the NG out of the CMU ROTC liason's office. I'm 20, btw. Tell SGT Celbe I said hey, if he remembers me.

Im sorry to repeat myself if ive asked this question but ive scanned the thread and i havent found it....do i bring my own running shoes or are they something i am forced to purchase along the way? Cause i only roll with N-I-K-E

You can bring your own, just make sure they are running shoes and not basketball/aerobic/walking shoes. When they take everyone one down to the shoppette to get stuff they don't have...you shouldn't be forced to purchase one. You might be suggested though....

[quote:03f9ed8fda="Jmetcalf"] So would i answer Drill Sargeant, Yes, Drill Sargeant or just Yes, Drill Sargeant....? [/quote:03f9ed8fda] I've read somewhere (official publication, but I don't remember which one) that it's apropriate to use the title of address at the begining or end of a sentence, but not both. Never insist upon this, especialy with a Drill Sergeant.

With the running shoe question you can bring your own shoes. One thing from personal experience though. I am a serious runner and I used to be like oyu with the idea that nike was the only thing I wore. That was until I went to an actual running store. They had me run on a treadmill and recorded my stride to find out what were the best shoes for my feet. I learned from them and you will also hear from most serious runners that at least 90% of Nikes are horrible running shoes. My advice would be if your going to buy shoes before you leave go to an actual running store (not a sports store) and get them to find out what type of foot you have and get them to shoe you a couple different pairs from different name brands. I love mizuno, asics, brooks, and right now I am running in a pair from a company that you have probably never heard of called Pearl Izumi. Now I am not saying that all Nikes are bad and they have a couple pairs that are ok but you wont find Nikes in a running store very often. By serious running I am running about 30miles a week on my own not counting PT. Looking forward to hearing what you get in your contract.

check out this link and it should be able to point you in the right direction. http://www.runningnetwork.com/stores/michigan.html Adidas make some pretty good shoes as well just not quite as popular as the other names I listed.

Ok, i got myself a new pair of shoes. I like them they are really comfortable, they are these Nike Renegades or something. They look good and are comfortable. They only cost me $80! Thats the cheapest ive payed for shoes in years. It was simple too, i walked in the guy made me stand bow-legged and BAM he handed me a shoe and told me to try it on. Tomorrow i go get "Touched" by Helga. You know Helga. Shes that 350 lb Russian woman that gives you the physical. So im headed out to Lansing in about 5 hours where ill stay overnight and get touched by helga in the morning. What happens next, what if they find something, what if its normal...?
Thanks, Ill keep you informed. Keep posting to let me know your alive and ill keep posting to let you know i am. (Minus a few months here and there for reasons of being on LOCKDOWN)
