ok, heres my situation! I was medically discharged over 10 years ago (young and dumb) not knowing my options. My husband has 19 years of service and not getting out anytime soon. I recently heard that I could get a waiver for my discharge upon approval. I would like to come in as a 42A. Well at any rate. Being that I have be out for some time would I have to go through BCT? I was an E4 would I be able to maintain my rank? I assume it would be easy for us to be stationed together being that I would be HR, is this correct? I have mentioned it to him, but hes not convinced yet since I have taken up Massage Therapy, but looking at my future (retirement)I am really needing some info to help support my decision to rejoin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I too would like to be resting on a beach house in my golden years!

Have you been receiving disability all these years?

I am receiving a 20% disability. And was told that I would have to stop my disability which I'm ok with then have a phyiscal exam. I guess my main concern with that is if they still consider my unfit for duty would i be able to resume my disability? I truely think I am able to perform the duties of a soldier.

You would not be eligible to resume disability. In order to get your physical for enlistment, you have to waive your disability, and you can't get it back if you don't qualify.
I am working on processing a man to put him back in and he gave up his 10% and knows he can never get it back, but he is willing to do that in order to get back in.

Thanks SSG Schwartz you have been very helping not only to my question, but by me reading other questions and your responses have opened up my eyes to a lot of other things. Again thanks for your info. In reading a response posted I would not have to do BCT b/c I did over 180 days, but would I be able to keep my rank?

Thanks!!

Evidentally I should have posted the following satement in this discussion folder. I'm not sure I'm new to this whole thing and just trying to get a better understanding of my options. "Can anyone give me an idea of how long it would take the MB to determine if I am fit for duty? (trying to go back in with a 20% disability) Do I need to request my records? Just trying to get some idea of what to do and how long it will take. Before going to the recruit office, don't want to get the run around." Thanks for any help!
