I guess i asked the wrong question earlier, I want to be in the Army, i am a junior in highschool, my dad is stationed here at Ft Hood, he has taught me alot about the life of being in the Army, I love him for what he has taught me and about our country, soon it will be my turn to serve our great nation. Here is what i am wanting to do, I want to be in his unit with him, i am not out to prove anything to him, he knows and tells me how proud he is of me, i am out to prove to myself and my country, his soldiers say he is harder on me and my sister than he is with them, (hahaha). I love him and want to serve beside him in the begining. I just want to know what i need to do to be able to do this. He does not know im doing this.
When you join, you will not choose your first duty assignment and depending on your and your father's MOS, you may or may not be able to be stationed in the same unit.
If this were to happen, you'll need some assistance from your father ... depending on his rank.
Since he is a SSG, he may need to speak with the unit 1SG/CSM for some assistance in getting you in the unit ... however, it's doubtful he'll be your supervisor.
