I got a minor possession charge on dec 1st 2010 and since then i have turned my life around. I have a son and a fiance and my dream is to be in the military. i didn't join in the past because i wanted to get a job to support my family. i feel like now is a good time to enlist and i just wanted to know if my chances are ruined. ill do whatever it takes. i just don't want one stupid mistake to crush my dreams. i feel very defeated because i feel like ill never be able to join. just tell me what i need to do.

Definitely speak with your local military recruiter... there are time limits, etc on what will be able to be waived etc etc...

Don't let the drug charge ruin your dreams.

The army does REGULAR drug tests. Don't expect to join up and ever do drugs again while in uniform.

In other words- don't even think of joining up if you feel you might ever try drugs again. It's a bad bad idea.

A recruiter can confirmed this but any conviction on drug possession is a permanent disqualifier. Sorry for the bad news.

Also, the military is a job/career profession so I do not understand why you wrote that in your question.

Out of that whole post the only thing that I could understand was "Your done bro". Other than that it was hard to understand. And besides your drug charge I can see why "we" didn't want you. And lets get one thing straight, "we" don't need anyone, if anything it's people who need us. The Army is not just a last resort, a place to go when all your other plans fall apart. And I really hate to tell you but the Korean War started back in 1950 and technically has never ended.

To answer the OP's question, right now there is no waivers for drug charges. In the future who knows. Things change all the time. Another thing, you said fiance not wife, so until you are married you are considered a single parent and the Army is also not allowing single parents as of right now. But as soon as you get married you will be good in that department.

There is actually a procedure for renouncing your citizenship. Check with your local consulate.

+1.

Please do look up your local consulate and move out.

I would love to see what you think is a B.S. charge. And I highly doubt, after seeing your posts (i.e. grammer and spelling) that your law violations are your biggest issue. Did the ASVAB give you any troubles?

Any issues you may have had with the law or otherwise are your issues, its your fault you got in trouble for whatever reason. Live up to it and face the facts. Sounds like you are bitter that you could not get in, don't come onto a forum of mostly Army Soliders and those that truly want to be Soliders seeking advice from others and start your little school girl temper tantrums. Do what the OP has to do, stay out of trouble and then check back to see if the Army has lifted the drug charge rules. Or better yet, don't. Seems like you'll just be another Soldier that gets chaptered out.
