It's one of the only if not the only Infantry places who doesn't rapidly deploy. They aren't due for another deployment for about 2-2.5 years. They get back tomorrow actually. The plane lands in less than 12 hours. If you want to deploy bad enough, talk to your reenlistment NCO and find a unit that is deploying to Iraq/Afghanistan soon and just set that as your duty station of choice. Its Infantry for christs sake, its not like we are overpopulated and it is hard to reenlist for places.
How many people are on the plane? Where does it land? What is the structure of the unit landing (ie, are they coming by platoon, company, etc)? What was the flight time?
Also, you realize he isn't talking about RE-enlisting, he is talking about ENLISTING. Look what forum it's in and what he's asking, and where he's located.
Marius you can enlist with a post but usually not a specific unit (unless you are getting one of those 18 series contracts or Ranger contracts, then you can really narrow it down). A lot of times when you go to a recruiter they will tell you that you can get a bonus for X years but can't choose a post, or whatever the case may be. Really I think your best bet is to talk to a recruiter (or someone here is a recruiter might chime in) and go to MEPS and see what they have open.
As for the deploying issue, it shouldn't be a problem. As an 11 whatever you're going to go somewhere deploying eventually. It all depends if you hit the unit right before, during, or right after a deployment. Usually you are going to go to a post and they will probably try to fill you into a unit deploying within the near future. When I got to Hood I had boots on ground in Afghanistan less than 30 days after I signed into the BDE.
