I went to the HRC website, clicked on the little "volunteer" button and thought that I'd get orders the next day to go overseas. Three months later, still no one has been knocking on my door.

What I would like to do is to be deployed, but NOT with my current MOS. And no, I don't want to take the time to re-class, I want to Right Now be assigned to a different unit and get sent over. I know for a fact that many people go overseas and are not MOSQ, and they recieve the training they need there. So I'm sure this is possible.

I Hate my current MOS, 68J. As my old UA told me, a monkey could do this job, and not only do I hold a Bachelor's Degree, I scored a 99 on my ASVAB. I need a job that is at least somewhat mentally stimulating. My ultimate goal is to become an officer, I will try for a Direct Appointment this fall, but for now, I need to get more military experience. I asked my UA if she could get me deployed with a different unit and she told me I couldn't do that. In the military I think you can do anything if you know the right people. Can anyone out there help or encourage me? My next step is to talk to my Rentention NCO, then my CO.

How long have you been at your current station? Where would you like to go?

Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, I don't have a preference, I'll go where I can be used. I enlisted in the USAR about a year and a half ago.
