A question for you all.

I'm a TPU (drilling) soldier in the reserves. I have the ability to mobilize for 6 months to a year stateside. I know that under normal conditions I am guaranteed re-employment at my job when I get back.

My question is - what about if a certain segment of the company is laid off during that time? Do I still get a like-kind position when I return?

There are about 1,100 employees at my office. There will be about 350 of us let go over a 2-year period (announced 2 weeks ago). My position will be gone by the end of this year. However, there are still many like-kind positions (accounting) here at this location. Will they have to retain me or can they say "well, your position has been eliminated, we aren't required to place you into another position"?

Thanks!
