im sorry but this is a bunch of BS... it sounds like the government is cutting almost all money from the army other than money for deployed units and screwing over people that are due for promotions or are looking into re-enlisting/pcsing
This month they quit stocking the restrooms with paper towels on my post to save money. I should have known it would only get worse.
are you serious?

Yes, first an email was sent saying bathrooms with hand dryers would not be getting paper towels. Then all bathrooms would not be getting paper towels. The post bus that runs between main post and the housing areas was stopped to save the money spent on fuel. Work orders are also suspended. Only service orders and emergency work orders are being accepted.
well that would be nothing new for my post to not have any paper towels in the restrooms, i can hardly think of any time ive been into any restroom on ft drum and it had paper towels...
Posted by ArmyReenlistment: If admin wants to post the information on this site, that's great, but since it was "FOUO" and sent via email through channels, I'm not going to post (unless I see it on a website).
That bit me before and learned my lesson. Nothing serious, just some hurt feelings because people were coming here for the exact same info instead of the "official channel". I will only post it when it is somewhere that is not AKO protected
Thanks by the way.

Why do this? I can understand reup bonuses, and maybe PCS moves since the Army pays for it. But promotions?
Give me a break.
You can understand reenlistment bonuses?!?!? You hurt my feelings!
It's all about not overspending. Promotions are a way the Army spends money. Maybe if we can have some more demotions, this would even out the promotions?
Once Congress passes the bill or whatever, this will all be over.
Maybe they will stop the hospital funding and families cannot deliver babies. Wow, that would be a tough month or so.
yea speaking of downsizing promotions... Why is it that certain MOSs are overstrength yet every unit you've been to or seen needs those Soldiers, yet those MOSs that are overstrength are all over the place and we can't get rid of em. Yet now the Army is downsizing reassignments so the Soldiers don't get to where they need to go and thus certain units will still be hurting. Only in the Army do you see Soldiers get promoted to Sergeant through the Automatic Integrated List when their units are overstrength already. Now the Army wants to downsize promotions? Hell don't punish the Soldiers who have been boarded and are pushing out every single promotion point they can to make 700+ promotion points, just stop the integrated list promotions.

"If Congress doesn't pass the emergency supplemental funding bill by the end if June, the Army plans to cut recruiting and re-enlistment bonuses, lay off some civilian employees, freeze promotions and cancel nonessential travel."
GEN Richard Cody, Vice Chief of Staff timeline: Beginning May 26 - no one orders noncritical parts or supplies, unless the Unit is deployed or has a published deployment date; postpone or cancel all nonessential travel, training and conferences, and stop shipment of goods unless necessary to support deployed or deploying forces. Beginning June 6 - Hold civilian hiring actions and postpone summer hires until receipt of the supplemental. Beginning June 15 - Release temporary civilian employess funded with OMA or performing OMA-funded work - including depot operations where workers perform maintenance on weapons and vehicles - and freeze contract awards and new task orders on existing contracts. Beginning June 26 - Release service contract employees who are not mission-essential; come up with a plan to trim personnel expenditures including a cessation in recruiting, deferment of re-enlistments, cancellation of permenant change of station moves and a promotion freeze.
-------- There is no task that is impossible, as long as you don't care who gets the credit.

Plain and simple the Army is hurting everywhere, though it will deny it. We supposedly aren't hurting as far as enlistments, yet we have continue to lower standards to allow potential soldiers to enlist. The decentralized promotions sounds good, but in the long run hurts the Army, due to the fact that you have units who feel they must promote someone, whether they are ready or not, because of the regulation. Cutting back on promotions is basically counteracting the the decentralized promotion system. As far as funding for units, yeah more money is geared towards deployed units, which kind of works, but also may prevent non-deployed units from maintaining their deployment readiness. All in all the Army needs to take a look at these points and think "Long Run" instead of "Quick Fix".
STAY READY to keep from GETTING READY!
