Afghanistan is more dangerous than Iraq. Nothing is more annoying when you go somewhere and out of the blue someone wants to put down your combat tour in Afghanistan by saying you got off "easy."

For one, it has always had less coverage. Two, we have about a tenth of the troops in Afghanistan that we do in Iraq. If we had the same amount of troops there (i.e. - more targets for them), imagine what it would be like.

Sometimes the DMZ is more dangerous than both Iraq and Afghanistan. Had a buddy who was in Kosovo who said it was worse than all three combined. We're soldiers, we go where our orders say.

I'm just getting a little irritated by his constant posts about basically what a hardcore soldier he is and his obvious statements about "we go where orders take us" as if that has anything to do with this thread.

35M that statment "we go where orders take us" might be his/her signature box, not trying to defend this person of course!! But the location that person is in states Iraq, so unless he/she is one of the chosen ones to deploy from Korea.. My mind will wonder.....

I do agree with you those posts, looking back at old ones he/she was in Korea in 03-04 and went to Iraq in 04-04, 05-06, and is currently there now. Has a family and wants to know why when others ask for advice about how to get more then a few months with their families between deployments, Korea and deployments again. If this is such a gungho soldier lets get him/her to go Drill Sergeant and train some privates... Oh wait on second thought. NO

I atand with AR give some stats on the death toll current from the DMZ. I would like to compare to Iraq and Afghanistan. I might have to go and goole this now seriously.. Humm DMZ and Kosovo being worse then Iraq and Afghanistan.. Maybe I should start DVR'ing CNN Confused

It's not his signature block, it wraps from one line to another.

I was letting people who put down combat tours in Afghanistan know that just becasue you're in Iraq doesn't mean you're always in harms way. I bet there are places in Afghanistan that are worse than places in IRaq. Going where my orders tell me does have something to do with this thread because of those who put down tours in Afghanistan. You probably didn't have a choice of Iraq/Afghanistan. It's not my signature, just a statement. k9er, through my last deployment my buddy stated he had more enemy contact in Kosovo. Just because things that go on at the DMZ aren't in the Sunday Times doens't mean they don't happen. Maybe not deaths, but you can't argue that there are soldiers on the DMZ that have fired their weapon more than people in Iraq or Afghanistan. The average Shepard can run 35mph, can you?? No, actually I've never been clocked. Hope that's not too gung ho for you.

Well... I'm about to sign into a unit that deploys almost exclusively to Afghanistan and lost 4 guys in 2 separate incidents in just the past week. Not exactly making cornflakes.

10th Mountain and 18th ABN Corps made Afghanistan more dangerous. The country has been in a downward spiral since conventional leadership took over.

Saying Afghanistan was more dangerous than Iraq at its worst times is ridiculous, but as of right now... definitely.

Someone putting down your Afghanistan deployment is pretty stupid and childish, but why would you care? Someone that would put you down for that is just a douche anyway.

I don't know if you can really argue that Afghanistan is more dangerous then Iraq. I have deployed to Iraq twice and Afghanistan. I will say that gun fights are a lot more intense in Afghanistan but that is because you are fighting a better trained enemy. But the IED/EFP threat in Iraq just sucks. Yes you get that in Afghanistan too but not nearly the magnitude you see in Iraq. I think it's just really hard to compare the two cause the battlefields are so different.

I understand where you were coming from on this thread, Not cool for someone to look down on an Afghanistan deployment, just kinda hard to compare the two wars by which one is more dangerous cause you have a lot of people who deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan and will never leave a base and others who see constant combat.

Is it leadership or can it be the fact that we're hunting Bin Laden more intensly now that your CINC has FINALLY made this a priority.

Ok the signature box that says "The average shepard can run 35mph, can you?? Is a quote in regards to my MOS and ASI thank you very much.

I was not intentionally puting down deployments, lord knows I am trying to jump on a plane and get another one under my belt. I was just agreeing with AR and 35M with their questions of the DMZ being worse then Iraq or Afghanistan.

Anyway, this forum is not worth getting all flustered and what not. So enjoy!!

Sarge07.... are you ready cause it will be at the bottom of my post again since it is a signature I have on here.....

Thanks for the warning. I agree, not worth getting angry over. I guess it's like sexual harassment: your intentions don't matter, it's how it's perceived. Not your sig line, my comments.
