Anyone know if the law of having a passport to enter/exit Mexico is in affect yet? I am going TDY to Huachuca and really want to visit Mexico. I heard a Military ID will get you back to AZ.

You only need a passport if you are traveling to Mexico by air. By POV, your ID should be enough.

Here is some info:

The bigger deal is getting back into the US, so just make sure you secure all your documents. If youre planning on smuggling cocaine, try hiding it in your camelbak. Wink

Keep in mind, if you are here for a school...they often tell students they are NOT authorized to travel to Mexico. Besides, the border towns are disgusting. Nogales is most likely your point of entry and that is like visiting the slums of Detroit.

They told us it was okay to go, as long as they knew about it. I didn't end up going anyways. Seemed like more trouble than it's worth.

My girlfriend is from Detroit. The bad areas of Detroit are no joke.
