So on Sept 1st I get promoted to SGT, and 10 days after that I'm going to the NCO of the Month board. I've been to SOM (and obviously a promotion board) before. My question to all you experienced folks is, what is different about the NCOM board? Should I study more details on the board topics than I would for a SOM/Promotion board? Are there any differences in procedure or anything else I should know about that would make this different from other boards?
Depends on the board itself. Generally the only difference is at NCO boards they ask more in-depth questions.
I just went to the Bde NCOQ board, and they did a shotgun board (which I didn't anticipate).
Before I was finished with the last word of my answer to one CSM, another had started asking a different question. It was fun, but I got fairly flustered fairly quickly. It didn't show until I had listed 2 of the 5 parts of an NCOER when the BDE CSM cut me off and quickly said "Quote the NCO Creed". That can happen in the middle of questioning, as opposed to the beginning or end, just depends on your CSM.
In my case, I started quoting it, realized I was still sitting down, said "Correction", and stood up and said the Creed.

I'm getting ready to go to a NCOQ BDE Board. In one of the topics is CTT/Warrior Task, now I printed out the CTT/Warrior Task sheet that was listed from this website, but I'm confused on how to study for that portion of topics, bascically what type of questions are they going to pull from that subject, it's confusing me. Can anybody give me any advice for those soldiers who have been asked board questions from that subject. Much appreciated.
