I got distinguished honor grad during AIT, but I was told by one of my NCO's that only basic training distinguished honor grad counts for promotion points. This doesn't seem right to me, and AR 600-8-19 doesn't make any clarification. Anyone know the deal on this one?

the reg isnt very specific its how the PSB handles it they took my BNCOC dist grad but not my AIT dist honor grad.....

I think it's just for NCOES schools.

I did get 15 promotion points for AIT Distinguished Grad. It came in mighty handy for the Ole Military Awards section.

I just got my ERB updated and was told you get no points for Distinguished Honor Grad of BCT or AIT.

I could never get them to accept it, though there is nothing in the regs under the award section that says it is for NCOES only. I had someone claim there was a policy letter but could not show me or tell me anything else.

If you go to the automated DA 3355 website you can put in yourself what awards and whatnot you have. For the Distinguished Honor Grad and Class Leader part it says NCOES. However, Certificates of Achievement do not say NCOES, so you can at least use it for that.
