My "NCO" (he is really just a NCO in the section I share an office with, I currently don't have a NCO) wants me to go to the board next month. My only worries are that I am slated to go to school in June and I am not sure how being in promotable status would effect that, and if being promotable is such a good thing considering I am changing my MOS.
I am not concerned about my ability to lead Soldiers as I have had two Soldiers before. Just concerned about the possibility of being an NCO at a new unit, new MOS and not being proficient in that job.
Has anyone else ever been in this sort of situation and/or have the answers to the two question worries in the first paragraph?
Trying to get this PAO thing down.

you need to find out if you can go to school being promotable. If you can then I wouldnt worry about anything then. You wouldnt be able to make the next rank anyway until you are qualified in the new mos. I made my sgt rigt before I pcsd to germany. There was alot I didnt know but there was alot that i did know. I think they understand that. You just have to be honest with yourself and with your COC.

You need to check with your Career Counselor first, taking it that this was a reenlistment or reclass; some MOS's do not take E-4(P). If you do become promotable, your Career Counselor has to do a contract validation to see if you can still attend the course.
