I am attending the BDE SOQ board in May. One of the packet requirements is a biography. I've looked around to find a sample and I can't find one. I'm primarily looking for format and layout. Does anyone know where I can get some samples?

Thanks! Big Grin

PM me your email and I can send you mine.

It is basically:

-Who you are
-Everything about your Army career until now ie: where you have been and what you have done.
-Any awards you got
-Short term and long term military goals

To add onto what Epic said, keep your biography simple. Instead of "I joined the Army January 13th, 2003", say "I joined the Army in 2003, attended basic here..." etc. You will be nervous most likely, and all of those numbers will just get you mixed up. I handled myself extremely well, but still found keeping my bio simple helped a lot. If you rehearse it enough, it will sound natural coming out during the board.

Thank you. I'm pretty confident about presenting my bio during the board. But the memo for board requires a packet to be sent prior & that packet includes a written bio. So I was just looking for some sample written formats.

I would say as long as your career is. Obviously a SGM's bio is a little longer since they are more than likely in for almost if not more than 20 years, numerous deployment/assignments, married, children, schools, etc, etc...a PFC? well not that much to write except for the basics and stuff.

Mine is about 1/2 to 3/4 of a page, but trust me when I go to boards I dont say the whole thing word by word.

Lead by Example!!!
