I recently talked to my career counselor and he submitted me for a slot into 31E and it was denied saying there were no slots. However it says that 31E is on the BEAR. Im a Spc with 19 months AD and Im a 19k right now. Im just wondering what are the odds that something couldve been misread somewhere and a mistake was made or if this could really be true. I dont blame my career counselor because I say the message and hes still going to try at the 1st of every month for it. But why would they list it then deny it?

Just because it is still on BEAR, does not mean that the Reclass Bracnh was able to secure more training seats. I am pretty certain that the RMB is given a certain number of seats in a particular class for a particular MOS. The rest go to people like MMRB, IET etc... I saw a similar problem with 27D, which was eventually suspended from the program temporarily for same reason. when the Reclass Branch gets more seats, he will be able to send the packet up and should be approved as long as you still meet the requirements AND your current MOS IN/OUT call status does not change.

MOS strengths change quicker than In/Out Calls and BEAR Messages are released.
