I was on assignment to Ft Stewart, then couple of months after, it got switch to Ft Campbell. During this time I had to get my ASVAB score where it need to be to qualify for an MOS. Now that i qualfied. I cant reclass under the bear program because I am on assignment. My reenlistment sugguested that I reelist for 2 years, soon as i hit fort campbell go straight career counselor and do the bear program there. is this infomation correct? And will my assignment change?
The two year reenlistment sounds great, but you may need to do a three year reenlistment to have enough time to PCS.
You can go to your new Career Counselor, but probably can't get enrolled in the BEAR Program right away because you'll need to spend 12 months at current duty station to go to school. Some classes aren't loaded in RETAIN that far out.
Ok, I was suckered into coming to Korea. My DEROS is supposed to be the 3rd of July, but after calling branch to see what was up with my assignment, I was told I do not have enough time to PCS. I ETS on 6 JAN 08. I am trying to reclass to 46R as it is a way out of my dead end 88M MOS. But primarily, I want out of this heckhole. Is there a way I can extend for the extra month so I can get orders out of here and then reclass? I took the voice audition once, only to not pass and am planning on retaking it in the near future. I just want to get out of here especially considering my unit will not let me take leave because my DEROS is still set for July. THey are telling me that I will get an assignment because I have 6 months and three days when branch tells me I need 7 months. I have a COT ticket I have to use before July. What do I do? And also, about how long does it usually take to get a class date for a school that starts every month?
FireKitty; If your deros is 3 Jul and you don't have an assignment by now I wouldn't hold my breath on getting one. If you do a BEAR the first thing you need to do is be approved for the MOS, then you get a class date(took me less than a week after I was approved), then you extend to 2 years after your school ends. After school you have 90 days to re-up(note those two years won't count against your SRB) for your bonus. And you'll leave Korea as soon as your class starts.
