Hey, I'm currently a 11c.
I wanted to be a 68w joining but there were no slots available at the time so I took infantry.
I'm a e-1 right now, I just graduated osut. Is there a rank requirement for BEAR?
and would I be able to get SOCM in a bear re-class?
I dont want to change because I dislike being infantry, I like it alot. 68w is just where my hearts at. Later down the road it is setting me up for what I want to do.
thank you

Read more about the BEAR Program at ArmyReenlistment.com - BEAR Program

Soldiers must be SSG and below ... and their current MOS must be balanced or overstrength.

Technically, I don't see why you can't extend under the BEAR Program as a PVT, but by the time you reach your 24-month window to be eligible, you'll be a higher rank.

What are you referring to when you mention SOCM?

SOCM=Special Operations Combat Medic

You need to be SOCM qaulified to get into a Ranger Bn, and to do various other things as far as I know.

So I think I see where I wouldnt be able to do this right away. I need to have 24 months until my contract is up to be eligable?

Is this waiverable at all? Im not really interested in the bonus from the BEAR program. I just want to be a medic.

Why not just go Special Forces Medic?

Yes, you must be within your 24-month reenlistment window to participate in the BEAR Program. No, no waivers for this program.

Then you can reenlist for Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option; again, when you're in your 24-month reenlistment window.

I turned 18 two months ago. So the SF option goes out the window for a few years.

You've been so very helpful though. This website is awsome. I appreciate all the help I've received.

Answered all my questions to the standard, and then some.
