Was there a message that came out stating that BEAR applications are not being accepted until July 1st? Something about changing the way to submit or whats needed to submit an BEAR application to HRC. Anybody know what this is about?

I signed my 4187 for BEAR and my commander waited 2 weeks until he signed off. Once my reenlistment NCO submitted it to the career counselor, I was told about HRC not accepting any.

Never heard of this ... you can BEAR today.

Reclassification is a different story. The Reclassification Branch at HRC is undergoing some restructuring and is processing all requests currently submitted and is establishing new processing procedures and guidelines.

On July 2, Career Counselors will be authorized to submit new reclassification requests.

Another quick question to throw in. For CONUS station of choice as a mid-career what is the minimum reenlistment required? I know it says whats needed to meet SRR but is that with a minimum of 3 years or could I reenlist for 2 years?

The BEAR Program and reclassification are two totally separate programs.

You have to meet certain qualification to extend under the BEAR Program.

Policy Message 07-02 (Change 3), dated 19 January 2007 states:

Mid-Career Soldiers - may reenlist for the minimum period to meet the SRR for assignment using a combination of reenlistment and extension; extension will not exceed 11 months. Soldiers must be within 12 months of their date available to move (DEROS, LCM end date, SMTYM, or AEA end date) to obtain "movement-type" options in RETAIN.
