OK, here is the deal. I am a 31B (MP) and I am trying to reclass using the Bear Program to 89D (EOD). I have done all the stuff with EOD I need to do to go to the school. My retention sumited my paper work and I just got a phone call from him and he stated that I can no use the BEAR program because my MOS is on on the program. now I looked up the BEAR program on AR 601-280 and I did not see anything in there that states if your PMOS is on the list you can do the program. So if anyone knows if I can do the program or not, and if I can't where do I fine it.

BEAR Message 07-04 states:

Soldiers requesting MOS CMF 18, 37F, 89D or 97E may request entry into the BEAR program regardless of their In/Out call status. These are the only exceptions that will be approved for Soldiers serving in a Y/N MOS.

Also, 31B has been suspended from the BEAR Program.

Not sure where they got that information from, but I've also heard it and could never find it. Take this information to our Career Counselor and they should be able to get you squared away.

The newest MILPER MSG said that 31B is on the BEAR Program

Technically, 31B is on the BEAR Program, but because of lack of school seats, it has been suspended; not deleted.

So being that my wanted MOS (46R) has been suspended, can i not go forth in the process? I am a 68J10/Mid career/13DEC08/Promotable.

Or, should I put in a 4187 for reclassification? I am not really concerned about the bonus, its just I would like to have the oppurtunity to pick an MOS before THEY (lol) pick one for me, since 68Js have to reclass.

Reclassification will not help .... there are no class seats. Bottom line. Until the proponent loads more class seats in ATRRS, the MOSs will be suspended.
