Im E5 with 3.5years and just sign in my extension for 25U that has a report date on Sept19. My unit has just received orders to deploy this coming June. I was told that even though its 2-4months before my report date, I will me stop lost and just return back before my school start! My AEA said M for reclass in progress. I have no problem deploying with my unit, though my biggest worries is they might reschedule my class and not have enough time (24mo.) after my graduation? What can i do?
AR is absolutely correct. i wouldn't worry. a lot of it all depends on your chain of command so make sure the right people know about your situation... but as AR stated, sice your report date is so close to your deployment date, you'll most likely be assigned to rear detachment until you take off.
In addition to my BEAR Program reenlistment, a question about my bonus. My original ETS is Jul08 and my report date in school is Sept08, basically my extension that I signed is 31months. 7mo. after my ETS(AIT graduation)and IF I sign my official reenlistment for 3years more- does the 7months of AIT time, be counted? meaning that I only need to serve 29months more? and my AOS is still 36moths after AIT, making me eligible to 16K bonus?
AR, so bottom line is I'm eligible for the $16K bonus for signing a 36 months contract after my AIT? and since from my ETS and AIT graduation is 7 months, I'm just serving the remaining 29 months on my my next duty?
My situation is very similar, and at the risk of being ridiculed, I will ask the same question.
I reenlisted last year to reclass to 68K. It was not a BEAR program reenlistment, so I am unsure as to where I stand. I couldn't get a school date until January 2009, and we are projected to deploy in December 2008. My retention NCO told me that the Stop-Loss/Stop-Movement Message exempts me from Stop-Move (Exemption Q) even if my commander chooses not to honor the terms of my contract. I have not yet been in my commander's office about this matter, but my NCO support channel has started telling me I can forget about my school date. I am going to talk to Legal before I go see the commander, but I would like to hear your expert opinions on this matter.
Is my new MOS (68K) covered by exemption Q of the Stop Loss Message #5? Is my chain of command obligated to honor the terms of my contract and enable me to receive the training promised in my contract?
Thanks in advance for your input.

I don't have the bonus message (expired) for which you extended, but if extended for over 24 months, you won't have any previously obligated service ... all addition obligated service.
