I reclassed to 68W through the BEAR program. My retention NCO asked me whether I wanted to be TDY enroute or TDY and return. Being that i've been at Ft. Bragg for four yrs, I chose TDY enroute to a new duty station. About a month before I left for AIT, I was told that my status somehow changed to TDY and return, but I could call my branch once I get to AIT to get an assignment. I called the Health Services branch and the reclassifications branch, but neither said they could help me, and it was up to my retention NCO to get me an assignment. Is there any way that I can around this and get off of Ft. Bragg. I am willing to go anywhere.

Here is the real deal ...

When you go TDY and return, the unit/installtion had a valid slot for your new MOS/grade and the unit/installation pays for your TDY.

If you were TDY enroute, the Army pays for the TDY.

To get TDY and return, your Career Counselor would have had to request a valid slot through the installation G-1 and then request funds be released from the installation G-3. This is not normally an easy process and if you didn't ask for it, this process would never had been initiated.

Did you ever say that you wanted to stay where you were?

I never said that I wanted to stay here at Bragg. I made it very clear that I did not want to return to Bragg and would like to go to another duty station, and it didn't matter where. Is there anything that I can do to PCS to another duty station now that I've completed AIT and reenlisted for 3 years as of last month?
