I extended under the BEAR program last year for 35M (I'm currently in USAREC) and I am a SSG. My AIT Date is Dec 2008. If i become promotable when the current SFC list comes out will I lose my AIT slot and my BEAR contract be void? I have heard many different things and I really want to go to the new mos and not my old (13D) but in no way want to decline SFC if given a choice between 35M or E-7. Any help?

Hey SSG Stap, I have had the same questions come up when I processed the packets for 35M/97E. I called the proponet and asked. As long as you were an E-6 non P when you entered the program you will be good to go. At the time you entered the program you had no clue that you would or would not be on the selection list. I have even reenlisted a SFC when he completed the school, he did the program, waited for class but the list came out prior to attending, still had to honor the extension. AR, any other info out there on this?

I've search the ARs but came up empty. Thanks for contacting the proponent for the actual answer as that is real-time and ARs aren't. ArmyReup's post makes 100% sense.
