This is mostly for the career counselers/recruiters. I was readingBEAR MESSAGE 08-01, dated 13 Mar 08. I'm really not sure how BEAR works, but you can go BEAR to SF granted you have previously completed SFAS? Does your GT score have anything to do with BEAR? If your in/out call is N/N, there is nothing branch can do to hold you? This is the first time I've dealt with BEAR, so just looking for some expert guidance.

Recruiters do not have anything to do with the BEAR Program.

The BEAR Program allows eligible Soldiers an opportunity to extend their enlistment for formal retraining into a shortage MOS that is presently in the SRB Program and, upon completion of retraining, to be awarded the new PMOS, reenlist, and receive an SRB in the newly awarded PMOS.

Your GT score (or line scores) comes into play when being qualified for the MOS itself, not for entry into the BEAR Program.

If you're extending for the BEAR Program, your branch cannot stop this action if your MOS is balanced or overstrength.

It's YOUR career! Take control of it before someone else does.
