I am a SSG with almost 13 years active duty currently holding a 25Q30 MOS. I extended for the bear program in September 2007 for 96B now 35F. My school date isnt untill January 2009. At the time of my extention the SRB was 2.0 C zone. They have since changed the way they calculate and pay the SRB to the Flat rate system based on the amount of years reenlisting. I was informed thru a friend who is a CC that If the SRB goes up during the timeframe I am waiting for a school date that I am eligible for the highest amount the MOS's SRB rose to. With my time in service and pay grade my bonus should be $6000 dollars a year X years reenlisted. with the MILPER 07-346 the SRB was 21,000 for 12-23 months and 29,000 for 24-35 months. MILPER 08-069 changed that to 15,000 and 17,500 for the same time frames. As I my next reenlistment will be INDEF how far out does the Bonus get paid for? Am I entitled to the Highest amount? or will I get the 2.0 that was in my contract? A side question is has anyone recently been thru AIT as a SSG at FT Huachuca, what are the conditions that I will be facing i.e. living, school, duties and responsibilities?

Yes, when you extend under the BEAR Program, if the bonus increases or decreases, you'll receive the higher amount.

C Zone bonuses are paid through the 16th year of service. Use your 16th year as the cutoff.

If you have 13 years in service now and your class date isn't for another year (almost), when if your graduation date? I ask because you'll need to reenlist before your 14th year to be eligible for the C Zone bonus.

My school graduation date is 1 April 2009 and I dont actually hit 14 years AFS untill July 17th 2009. A follow on question would be If I reenlist at the same time I graduate that would leave me with 27 months and put me into the 2nd Bonus zone correct? To Clarify I know if the bonus increases when I reenlist that I receive the Higher bonus at that time but no less then the original that was guaranteed into my contract, but with the MILPER 07-346 out does that entitle me to the 29,000 bonus for a 27 month reenlistment? and if so how to I verify the amount entitled to me at the time of reenlistment?

Answer to my own Question..

Taken from MILPER 07-346

10. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
A. A SOLDIER WILL NOT FORFEIT ANY PORTION OF AN SRB WHEN THE SOLDIER IS NO
LONGER CLASSIFIED IN THE BONUS SPECIALTY WHEN THE SOLDIER IS RECLASSIFIED WITHIN
THE SAME CMF OR INTO CMF 18, UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY DA HRC.
B. SOLDIER WILL BE PAID IN ACCORDANCE WITH BONUS MESSAGE IN EFFECT AT TIME OF
EXTENSION OR REENLISTMENT WHICHEVER IS HIGHER. ALL BONUS PAYMENTS MADE UNDER
THIS AND ALL BONUS MESSAGES WILL BE ON A LUMP SUM BASIS.
C. A MINIMUM REENLISTMENT TERM OF THREE YEARS IS STILL A REQUIREMENT FOR SRB
ENTITLEMENT. A TWO-YEAR REENLISTMENT TERM DOES NOT ENTITLE A SOLDIER TO AN
SRB.
