I re-enlisted in July 2008, for 6 years, so my current ETS date is July 2014. I'm Infantry (11B) but wanting to re-class to PsyOps (37F) and I know I can because it is a MOS that you can go to regardless of your current MOS's In/Out call.....I'm wondering if I'm too far out from my ETS date to re-class (whether through BEAR, or in general)??

Is there a way I can get approved to go to PsyOps despite my far off ETS date, because I know it's a shortage MOS??

I'm trying to get into the same unit. It doesn't matter about your ETS. Their stipulation is that upon completion of MOS training you must have three years remaining on your contract! Some people accomplish through the BEAR program, but if you don't need to reen;ist to fulfill the TIS remaining obligation then you don't have to. Go to the Special Operations Recruiting website to get the recruiters e-mail. They respond pretty quick. (Just type SORB in google, its usually the second option).

If you recieved a bonus, they have a clause in their Volunteer Statement that saus you have to payback the "unearned portion" of your bonus. Now what that means I'm actually still trying to figure out (doesn't apply if you reenlist under the BEAR program).

This is an "application" MOS, so you have to submit a packet and they have quarterley boards to select qualified individuals. You can get your checklist at the SORB website. The process could take a while, up to a year from applying to getting your class date. So if you're serious I'd get in contact with a recruiter ASAP!

Hope this helps

Ya really DON'T know that you can go to 37F. What is your DLAB score? Or DLPT score? Do you allready have your clearance. Get those and I'll give you more insight.

I have a Secret on suspension, waiting for verification of some paid debts (receipts basically). Hoping to get that back soon.

I'm in College FT and am taking Arabic 101 right now, so know I have an aptitude for Language (also conversationally speak & read German). I think I can do OK on the DLAB.

I know I don't KNOW that I can go to 37f, I just meant as far as In/Out calls go I can.

Have a GT score of 126, PT score of 280 and a PULHES score of all 1's, except for a 2 under Vision, for glasses.

I'll contact the Recruiter and get the ball rolling on taking the DLAB and on getting my Clearance back.

Thanks!

Yep, latest milper message (June I think), says that you can reclass to 37F, 25L, 38B, and CMF 18 regardless of In/Out calls. 37F requires a DLAB score of at least 95 I believe. Your local ed center or your unit's CLPM can get you scheduled to take the DLAB

Ditto on the Ed Center scheduling/administering the DLAB/DLPT.

Tons of people come on this forum saying they speak this or that language and should be OK.

Then I am a little to a lot abrasive telling them, not they aren't the DLAB is a beast.

We bicker back and fourth and then I tell them the proof is in the pudding take the test and post the scores.

No one ever comes back to rub it in my face....yet.

For your sake I hope I am wrong, but seriously the DLAB will be the most difficult exam you have and probably ever will take.

Thank you for your honesty. I wish more people were the same. I'm not one to argue about doing something until I've DONE it. All I'll say is: I hope I can pass it. I'm determined and will give it my best effort.

Thanks again for all the help everyone. Going to Ed. Center Monday to ask about the DLAB.

The DLAB is a go with your gut test! I got a 109 and I had no freakin clue what they were talking about on that test. Don't think too hard or you'll nuke it. Go with your gut, because the questions are crazy weird!
