Let me start by saying that i am an E-5 with 4 years of service and my ETS date is in August. I have looked into both jobs and i am quallified to do either.
If i go 35L i know i have to have an interview by the CI unit on my post, then submit a packet to HRC.
What about 35M? What do i do to get things started? Do i still have to submit a packet to HRC?
The BEAR program states that i have to be a SGT(P) to become a 35M. Can i get a waver for that? If so who has to sign off on it? I thought about asking my chain of command to promote me but im not to sure they will be happy about me leaving.
Any help appricated!

The line: NOTE: A STRONG LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION/ENDORSEMENT FROM THE FIRST LTC IN THE SOLDIER’S CHAIN OF COMMAND IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PREREQUISITES REQUIRING A WAIVER. IF ALL PREREQUISITES ARE MET, A LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION SHOULD NOT BE SUBMITTED.
I would assume that not being a promotable E5 falls into that category. That MILPER MSG hasn't expired yet, unless there's a newer one.

After personally submitting four 35M packets and forwarding numerous more (and speaking with the 35M Branch Manager), no waivers are being granted for SGTs. Soldiers MUST meet the stated qualifications.
As for the packet to HRC, it's a electronic packet through your Career Counselor ... it's called the BEAR Program extension processing. See your Career Counselor to get your extension started.
so nothing is waiverable for SSG's trying to reclass thru the bear program, even bncoc? u must meet all qualifications?
also the program in the milper message is expired, are those prereqs still current for anyone wishing to reclass? or are there different ones now?
i've read the latest bear progam milper message, but they dont state exactly what the prereqs are... would i need a secret clearence before submitting an bear packet or could it be in the works?
whole bunch of questions without any really organization, sorry but any answers would help! thanks

Did it expire or does it say "MAY" expire?
Some things may be waiverable, based on the MOS. You must get an approved waiver prior to enrollment into the BEAR Program.
