just trying to get an idea,I'm an e6 and I come in my window in april and I am planning on reclassing to 92Y as long as it is still part of the bear program. Just wanted anyone else's opinions or experience with this MOS. It seems like promotion opportunities are descent and duty assignment choices are pretty vast. Would like some feedback though from other people.
I have been a 92Y for over 3 1/2 years and have had good and bad experiences as with any other job. As a 92Y you may work in a supply room, S4, or Property Book Office. Supply room is the most hectic but also the most beneficial of all the places you can work. I enjoy the responsibility of taking care of my commanders property which is your first priority always. You will learn all your basic and crucial knowledge in the supply room.
I am so glad you asked that question because I am planning on going that rout as well. I am currently a 25M(graphic Illustrator)E6, on my first enlistment. I live in Virginia and work in DC. I definately want to reclass to 92y and hopefully get stationed at Ft. Lee. Definately with a unit that deploys. Once the hold is lifted I will go talk to the career counselor. I wrote out the pros and cons and whats important to me is having a mos that allowed me to move around as well as go ocs or green to gold if I choose to. So let me know how every thing worked out for you.

well I'm hoping to either come back here to Fort Campbell, since I just bought a house or get stationed at Fort Belvoir, which is one of the closer bases to my hometown in Delaware. As AR stated, good pens are always a plus, but its just time for something different. I wouldnt mind deploying again either, so I might try to return here to campbell. thanks for the input.
Being a 92Y has its fair share of awards. I have been doing it for many years now and still continue to learn alot. Just know like previously stated above that it can get VERY hectic. Most likely just coming into the mos you will be put some where as a supply sgt fresh out of AIT. Which will be alot of responsibility you have to know youre job inside and out (yeah of course some get by but sooner or later it will catch up with you). But if you are a quick learner you will be fine.
the posts have definately been helpful. I just hope the mos holds up in the bear program until the spring. That being said, this is a great forum and I have told all of my soldiers about what they can find out on here.
Well good luck if you do get the MOS. Just remember two very important things networking/google (search engine)is very big if you a 92Y. I would have had many long days with out a good nco/civilian employee support channel to help answer some of my many questions I have faced. And never forget this important tip, you can google just about any situations or questions that might come up or maybe you might need to figure out how to do something. Thats always the first thing I do
